I Saw It

That tree at night is so beautiful.
I saw it. I saw the beauty.
I claim this vision with my
artist’s eye. My eye so
true you crave to see
the beauty I see. You pose
and claim you saw it too.
You didn’t see it.

I love the phrase ‘I claim this vision with my artist’s eye’ – now that’s beautiful… and original too!

haha–hey, heroic imp, as long as you’re cutting to the heart of things, there’s a big stack of boxes upstairs that wants to be knocked over.

But I saw you seeing it, and I therefore claim your vision with my observer’s eye.
    And your little dog too.

Dammit! And I was trying so hard to be a ninja artist —
stand between stalks of grass, bend my body to wrap around a breeze.
I think it was the clanky keys that gave me a way.
    Or mebbe the little dog.

Yes. I saw it, too. I really did. Will send you a poem by Judson Jerome about what I didn’t see, and neither did you.
